Extracorporeal lithotripsy with low intensity shock waves (LEOC) has recently been proposed as a novel option for the treatment of ED.

The application of LEOC generates an intra and extracellular response in the corpus cavernosum of the penis, generating vascular growth factors, and angiogenesis that increases blood flow in the penis . In the first randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, its effectiveness in the treatment of ED of vasculogenic origin was demonstrated. Recently, results have also been presented that report improvements in hemodynamic parameters, endothelial function and improvements in erectile function in patients not responding to IPDE5.
