On November 19, 2024, Creu Roja Hospitals in Palma de Mallorca hosted the First Practical Workshop on Non-Scalpel Circumcision with a Silicone Automatic Stapler, an innovative surgical technique poised to revolutionize circumcision procedures.
This workshop was organized by Dr. Xavier Bonet and Dr. Víctor Parejo, urologists from Andrología Mallorca, experts in this technique with over 300 non-scalpel circumcisions performed in the past year.
A transformative workshop: key results
The HANDS-ON TRAINING workshop allowed participants to perform 18 surgeries in just three hours (from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM) under the supervision of experienced professionals. Five urologists from renowned hospitals across the country attended this workshop, exploring this revolutionary surgical technique.
Advantages of the automatic stapler with silicone ring
Participants highlighted the benefits of this technique over traditional methods:
- Speed: Procedures completed in just 5 minutes compared to the usual 45 minutes.
- Increased safety: Significant reduction in pain, bleeding risks, and recovery time.
- Comfort: No risk of staple embedding, improving the patient’s overall experience.
A technique with a bright future
This innovative technique is ideal not only for treating congenital phimosis in young patients but also for adults with conditions like lichen sclerosus. As course director Víctor Parejo stated: “Turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.”
A new standard in medical practice
The successful first edition of this workshop marks the beginning of a series of training sessions aimed at spreading and standardizing this groundbreaking technique, which “is here to stay.”
The organizers expressed their pride in contributing to the advancement of medicine and hope this is just the start of many more editions to come. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
