From May 23 to 26, 2025, the 1st Inter-Island Urology and Andrology Course was held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: an event that brought together top-level professionals to share knowledge, cutting-edge surgical techniques, and to foster new collaborative ties between specialists from different island territories.
The course was led by Dr. Víctor Parejo, member of Andrología Mallorca, and Dr. Juárez del Dago, CEO of Urointec, who directed a program focused on innovation, hands-on training, and scientific advancement.
As highlighted by the newspaper Canarias7, the course combined high-level theoretical sessions with live surgery broadcasts, allowing attendees to experience first-hand the latest innovations in the treatment of common urological conditions, as well as efficient management of a urology service.
Throughout the course, cutting-edge techniques for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) were explored, such as Aquabeam, outpatient Holmium laser enucleation, and the Rezum technique. Practical workshops were also held on stapler-assisted circumcision, highlighting the course’s minimally invasive, efficient, and outpatient approach.
One of the most significant moments was the participation of Dr. Alberto Breda, an international reference and pioneer in telesurgery, who performed several procedures during the course and delivered a keynote lecture on the current and future application of telesurgery in urology.
This course has not only served as a platform for scientific advancement but also as a bridge for new inter-island collaborative projects, consolidating a professional network between the Balearic and Canary Islands committed to excellence, continuous education, and improved healthcare quality.
From Andrología Mallorca, we extend our deepest gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers for making this event possible. We remain committed to modern, collaborative, and patient-centered urology.
