On March 12 and 13, Barcelona hosted the XI Course on Prosthetic and Reconstructive Urogenital Surgery, a benchmark event in the field of andrological surgery. Organized by the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, the course brought together specialists from across Spain to share and update knowledge on advanced surgical techniques.
TAUS Clinics, Protagonist of the Event
The urologists from TAUS Clinics played a prominent role in this edition, actively participating in conferences and live surgeries. Among them, Dr. Xavier Bonet Puntí, director of Andrología Mallorca, had a key intervention in several sessions, consolidating his recognition in the field of reconstructive and prosthetic surgery.
Doctors Josep Torremadé Barreda and Lluís Peri Cusí, two of the course directors, along with Drs. Xavier Bonet Puntí and Maurizio D’Anna, led various interventions, reaffirming TAUS Clinics’ leadership in this field.
A First Day of Practical Training
The event began with a cadaver surgery workshop, organized in collaboration with the University of Barcelona. This workshop provided attendees with the opportunity to refine their techniques in penile prosthesis implantation, suburethral slings, and artificial urinary sphincters. Guided by highly experienced surgeons, participants were able to train in complex procedures in a controlled and highly specialized environment.
Dr. Xavier Bonet in Key Sessions of the Course
The second day was marked by round tables, live surgeries, and video-surgery sessions. In this context, Dr. Xavier Bonet Puntí participated in two significant moments:
Live Surgery
Together with Dr. Josep Torremadé Barreda, he performed the implantation of a penile prosthesis with an ectopic reservoir (Boston AMS 700), highlighting the benefits of this technique for patients with severe erectile dysfunction.
Ultrasound in Peyronie’s Disease
Dr. Bonet delivered a key session on the use of Doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis and surgical planning of Peyronie’s disease. This intervention, moderated by Dr. Maurizio D’Anna, fostered an enriching debate on the most innovative therapeutic approaches.
TAUS Clinics, a Benchmark in Reconstructive Surgery
The XI Course on Prosthetic and Reconstructive Urogenital Surgery reaffirmed the importance of continuous updates in andrological and urological surgery. The participation of doctors from Andrología Barcelona, including Josep Torremadé Barreda, Lluís Peri Cusí, Xavier Bonet Puntí, and Maurizio D’Anna, demonstrated their leadership in the treatment of erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and Peyronie’s disease.
Thanks to events of this magnitude, patients can access the most advanced surgical techniques with the confidence of being treated by top-tier specialists.
