We are pleased to announce that Dr. Astrid Hernández joins our multidisciplinary team at Andrología Mallorca as a specialist in Nephrology and Head of the Cardiovascular Health Department.
Her arrival strengthens our commitment to providing comprehensive, preventive, and personalized medical care, addressing men’s urological, andrological, renal, and cardiovascular health in a coordinated way.
Background and Added Value
Dr. Hernández earned her medical degree from the National University of Colombia and completed clinical rotations at Nuffield Hospital and Poole Hospital (United Kingdom) before specializing in Nephrology at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra (CUN).
During her training, she actively participated in kidney and kidney-pancreas transplant programs, research, and transplant patient management.
Later, at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, she joined the kidney transplant unit, gaining extensive experience in managing complex, highly sensitized, and elderly patients.
More recently, she has led projects in kidney protection, chronic kidney disease prevention, and cardiovascular health programs, integrating metabolic risk factor control, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle strategies.
Why This Incorporation Matters
- It strengthens Andrología Mallorca’s comprehensive approach, integrating Nephrology and Cardiovascular Medicine into the urological-andrological field.
- It contributes a preventive and multidisciplinary perspective, focused on the patient’s overall health: kidney, heart, and sexual function.
- It enables the development of coordinated cardiovascular prevention programs, essential for managing vascular erectile dysfunction, metabolic syndrome, and hypertension associated with male aging.
- It enhances clinical excellence in the Balearic Islands, positioning Andrología Mallorca as a benchmark in comprehensive men’s health care.
What This Means for Our Patients
With this new addition, our patients will benefit from a joint evaluation of renal and cardiovascular health, integrated with their usual urological and andrological assessment.
This approach allows for early detection of risk factors, optimization of overall medical treatment, and improved quality of life through active prevention of metabolic, vascular, and sexual complications.
Next Steps
Dr. Hernández will begin her practice at our Palma de Mallorca location, situated in Centro Médico Planas Salud (Camí dels Reis 308, Building 3A, 1st Floor, 07010).
She will offer in-person and online consultations for both renal patients and those seeking a personalized assessment of their cardiovascular risk or overall male health optimization.
At Andrología Mallorca, we continue to prioritize innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered care.
With the incorporation of Dr. Astrid Hernández as Nephrology specialist and Head of Cardiovascular Health, we take another step forward in our mission to provide the highest medical quality in men’s, urological, renal, and cardiovascular health.
Welcome aboard, Dr. Hernández!
